Preparing for Holiday Shipping Season

Ahhh, the holidays are here! At Mailing Methods, this is one of our favorite times of the year.

Everyone – USPS, UPS, and FedEx, and Santa’s elves –  is gearing up for a busy season to ensure packages and gifts get delivered on-time. There is an anticipated 12% growth in the package business this year due, in part, to the popularity of internet shopping. In fact, the United States Postal Service will be offering 7-day package delivery from November 17 thru December 25. That’s right! They will be operating on Sundays to handle the increased holiday package traffic.

To ensure on-time delivery of your shipments for the Holiday season, USPS recommends these deadlines and shipping methods:

Date                              Shipping method

December 2 — International first class or priority mail

December 10 — International express priority mail

December 15 — Standard post

December 17 — Guaranteed global express

December 20 — Domestic first class or priority mail

December 23 — Domestic express priority mail

Some things get left until the last minute, especial during the holiday season when it comes to wrapping gifts. However, properly packaging your gifts will save time, money, and frustration in the long-run. So take a few extra minutes to:

  • Correctly address your packages – the wrong street name or zip code can cause delays
  • Use bubble wrap or packaging paper – proper packaging will protect the gifts you are sending and preventing any damages.
  • Use sturdy supplies – stock up on durable boxes and shipping tape. And don’t over load your boxes.
  • Remember: alcohol, perfume and tobacco products aren’t prohibited from being shipped.

Are you a business owner trying to figure out how to juggle all your shipping needs? If all this sounds frustrating then leave it to the experts at Mailing Methods. We are equipped to handle large, corporate mailings so you can focus on other areas of your business. Mailing Methods proudly serves the St. Louis area.
